We pledge to help create an atmosphere of respect and civility where individual Council members, City Manager, department heads, staff, committee members, and the public are free to express their ideas, hold different opinions, and work to their full potential;
We will avoid written, verbal and electronic displays of anger, rudeness, ridicule, impatience, lack of respect, dishonesty and personal attacks, as these distract from the open exchange of ideas, and can prevent fair discussion of the issues and can discourage individuals from participation in government;
We will avoid rhetoric intended to humiliate or question the wisdom of those whose opinions are different from ours;
We shall work together with others, with mutual respect, to achieve organizational goals, recognizing that unity of purpose and effort leads to increased productivity and greater accomplishments.
We shall strive to stimulate and appreciate new concepts, perspectives and solutions suggested by all, as Kenneth City’s creative community is enriched.
We shall lead by example, using appropriate interpersonal skills, and shall strive to maximize citizen and staff involvement to further the vision of Kenneth City’s quality community.
We will speak truthfully without accusation, and we will avoid distortion;
We shall recognize and value individual contributions to the Kenneth City community, and respond efficiently and effectively to the needs of our citizens.
We will speak out against violence, prejudice and incivility in all of their forms, whenever and wherever they occur.
We agree that all remarks shall be addressed to the Town Council as a whole and not to any individual member thereof.
