News Release - New Permit Fees

The Kenneth City Town Council on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022 unanimously approved an increase in fees charged by the Building Department. During the annual budget process, Council authorized revenue increases in building permit fees. The Town’s previous fee structure did not cover the costs of the services provided by the Building Department. The fee structure adopted will adjust fees sufficiently as to cover costs.

The adoption of the new fee structure is the latest move adopted by the Town of Kenneth City to update the Building Department. A new agreement with SAFEBuilt to provide turnkey Building Department services began on December 1, 2022. The interlocal agreement with the City of Pinellas Park to provide Building Department services expired on December 12, 2022.

In other Town Council action Wednesday:

Disposal of assets approved in Public Works

Councilmembers approved a resolution to dispose of assets deemed unnecessary for one of the following reasons: redundant piece of equipment, functionally obsolete, or too expensive to repair/maintain. These items were taking up valuable space at the Public Works complex and funds received at auction will offset other capital needs in Public Works.

Public Works Workshop / Tour Scheduled

Councilmembers approved a special public workshop and tour of the Public Works building on January 19th, 2023.  This will help increase awareness and transparency of a critical department in the Town.
