"If I Were a Thief"

“If I Were a Thief” is an outreach program whose goal is to reduce crimes of opportunity. Police Department per-sonnel while on patrol daily identify circumstances which may present opportunities to criminals. Officers will leave a friendly reminder in the shape of our bright yellow card, with the intent to foster constructive feedback on what they have observed. Suggestions include how to secure items and reminders to lock vehicles so that the chance of being a victim of a crime is reduced. The program as a whole is a reminder for residents to be vigilant and take the extra minute to lock cars and remove or hide any valuables from view as well as give them the in-formation they need to contact one of our officers if they see anything out of the ordinary. “If you see something, say something.”
