Crossing Guard

The Kenneth City Police Department is proud to deploy a School Crossing Guard who is part-time during the school year season. Duties involve the rendering of assistance to the general public, answering questions and interacting with those who traverse our Town’s streets each day. The Crossing Guard directs pedestrian and bicycle traffic at a designated location, safely crossing school children and adults. This is a great opportunity for retirees and stay-at-home parents to contribute back to our community. The guard works approximately 480 hours a season in the heat, cold, and rain and is responsible for supervising approximately 4000 trips across two intersections per season, keeping our kids out of harm’s way. The Crossing Guard is trained in School Zoning Crossing, CPR, AED and First Aid.

The Town of Kenneth City maintains one School Crossing Guard, Ted Walters, who can be seen daily at the intersection of 62nd Street and 54th Avenue. If you travel through the area be prepared to be greeted by a smile and strong wave. Ted can been seen with his cheerful, enthusiastic welcome which is infectious, to all who see it. We constantly hear for others how they just drive by to see him as his cheerfulness makes their day just a little better. He represents the Town and Police Department well. He has a natural genuine relationship with the kids and parents who he crosses and everyone knows him. Ted is a great team member and we are so proud to have him.
